About Java

Java is a computer programming language. Like English, Java has a set of rules that determine how the instructions are written. It is platform independent programming language. It has its rules, known as its “syntax”. Once a program has been written, the high-level instructions are translated into numeric codes that computers can understand and execute. It was originally developed by James Gosling at Sun Microsystems (which has since merged into Oracle Corporation) and released in 1995 as a core component of Sun Microsystems' Java platform. The language derives much of its syntax from C and C++ but has a simpler object model and fewer low-level facilities.
The primary goals in the creation of the Java language are:[It should be "simple, object-oriented and familiar";it should be "robust and secure";it should be "architecture-neutral and portable";it should execute with "high performance"  and it should be "interpreted, threaded, and dynamic".
There were five primary goals in the creation of the Java language:[22]
  1. It should be "simple, object-oriented and familiar"
  2. It should be "robust and secure"
  3. It should be "architecture-neutral and portable"
  4. It should execute with "high performance"
  5. It should be "interpreted, threaded, and dynamic"
Java technology's versatility, efficiency, platform portability, and security make it the ideal technology for network computing. From laptops to datacenters, game consoles to scientific supercomputers, cell phones to the Internet, Java is everywhere!
